Where: Borders Bookstore (2740 East 21st Street, Tulsa)
Why: Coffee, Snacks, & Good Conversation

Directions: South side of 21st Street between Lewis & Harvard Avenues. (Just immediately west of where the Broken Arrow Expressway (SH 51) crosses over 21st Street)

Notes: If you have friend who might be interested in becoming a member of the group, try to bring them along as a guest. This is a generally a smaller and more informal gathering then a regular monthly meeting. It could be the best way to get somebody interested enough in the group to want to take additional steps towards becoming a local member.

 

What: Shakespeare SIG
When: Friday, 13 May 2005, 18:30 Hrs. till it's over
Where: Becky & Tim Palmer Residence (north of Owasso, OK, call for directions)
Why: In Search of Shakespeare (first half of a series that was on PBS)
Who: The local Mensa Group
RSVP Info: You must call for directions (918-371-6434) or email to Becky Palmer.  If you do email, but "Shakespeare" in your subject line so that your email isn't accidentally deleted.
Directions: To get started, find Highway 169 and go north to the 116th Street N (aka. Hwy 20) exit.  The remaining details will come from  Becky when you communicate with her.  Most coming from Tulsa report the drive time is about 30 minutes.

Snacks: Not necessary to bring a snack, but you can if you like
Animals: Two dogs live here (behind a fence), but they frighten easily.  They won't be in the way, but should not be approached without Becky or Tim there to make proper introductions.  Just come in the front door and the dogs probably won't even notice you.
Notes: Older teens and adults welcome.  According to Becky, in spite of the fact the meeting location is across the Tulsa County Line, there are no problems with sea serpents.  This should put your mind completely at ease with regards to making the trip.

Why: Anatomy of a Tinkering Project - Details by Brian Jackson
Details: The presentation will provide some interesting details about a mechanical and electrical project.  The task was to erect a remote controlled motorized gate across a driveway opening.  Pictures and discussions will show how this project was done from start to finish.  It is hoped that the presentation will encourage others in the group to tackle projects of their own, whatever they may be.

Details: There has been growing interest in wireless networks in recent years.  These systems are used in a myriad of locations, ranging from big complex systems in hospitals down to single access point systems in homes.  There are some serious data security and privacy issues associated with use of this technology.

James Haddock dons his Security Consulting hat in order to make an informative presentation on this topic.
