Directions: Located on the east side of Harvard Avenue, between the Skelly Bypass (I-44) and 51st Street.  This building was formerly a Shoneys restaurant.  This is the northeast corner of 51st Street and Harvard Avenue.

Speaker: Our guest speaker is Mr. Roland H. Harrison, co-author of the the book titled "Buried Cities, Forgotten Gods".  This book is about William Niven's Life of Discovery and Revolution in Mexico and the American Southwest.

Additional Notes about the May general meeting speaker:

Roland H. Harrison received a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked briefly for the Esso Research Laboratories but retired as a Physical Chemist from the Thermodynamics Laboratory at the National Institute of Petroleum and Energy Research in Bartlesville, OK after a career of 28 years. He was the co-author of about 40 publications in the fields of thermodynamics, coal conversion technology, and chemical physics. Most recently, he spent 11 years in the research of information needed for the biography of his grandfather, entitled BURIED CITIES, FORGOTTEN GODS, William Niven’s Life of Discovery and Revolution in Mexico and the American Southwest. The book was co-authored by Dr. Robert S. Wicks, Professor of Art History, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Roland and his wife, Margie, are the parents of 7 children and the grandparents of 21 children and will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 1. Roland enjoys his hobbies of photography and table tennis and plays about twice weekly and competes in two tournaments a year.

Roland is bringing a couple of CD-ROMs full of images that we can look at.  A computer, digital projector and screen will be provided so that the group can see the pictures without having to crowd around a monitor or notebook PC.

Notes: If you have friend who might be interested in becoming a member of the group, try to bring them along as a guest.  This is a generally a smaller and more informal gathering then a regular monthly meeting.  It could be the best way to get somebody interested enough in the group to want to take additional steps towards becoming a local member.
